I took my 2-year-old goldendoodle to the vet today. He has some scabs on his face that he’s been itching and irritating for a week. The vet told me he has dermatitis, and most likely allergies too. Besides the treatment for the skin issues, the vet recommended trying a different dog food, preferably an organic one with meat as the first ingredient. Can you recommend any brands of dog food that would be good to try for a dog with allergies?

My poor dog is constantly scratching herself. The skin on her back is so dry it’s flaking. I’ve been feeding her Natural Balance Fish & Sweet Potato (which is "Allergy Free") but it doesn’t help her skin. I also give her two fish oil pills a day. Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced dry dog food that could possibly help to relieve her itching? What brands have worked for your dog? Thank you.

My dad’s Maltese is old and he has skin allergies. I’m trying to help my dad pick out a dog food that would help out frosty. Some foods make his skin dry and itchy. It used to be a lot worse. He would scratch so much that he would bleed. He loved Artemis but we are having a hard time finding it in a large bag near us. We live in Chicago and if anyone could give some good suggestions we’d appreciate it. To those of you give actual answers, thank you.

To the others: I’m not stupid. I have goggled this. I’m looking for someone to give me advice on a certain brand, not to read what the company says about their products. First hand experience beats out advertising. Would you advertise that your product is made from crap? No.

Beneful, iams, science diet and the similar foods are horrible for him. The dyes, the by-products and corn, etc. Are all so bad for dogs.
