I have a 12 yr old Cocker Spaniel. I’ve been feeding him Beneful dog food since Friday, and he has thrown up 3 times within the past 2 days. I never knew of the bad quality of Beneful until I starting researching it. I’m a little scared… Should I take him to the vet or start him on a way healthier dog food? If so what would you recommend for a 12 yr old cocker spaniel, who still runs around like a pup?

Also, there’s a Trader Joe’s near by and I have been reading good stuff on the Holistic Dog foods they carry, there’s also a Pet Food Express near by. I could use all the help I can get, as to avoid a hefty vet bill.

With all the recalls & just opening my eyes to whats in her food(formerly dry Eukanuba maintenance) I know am starting to learn that maybe that’s not the best food for her. I thought it was the BEST out there. So with all these natural names:

How do I know what is right for her? She is a house dog, runs in the yard with kids, she doesn’t hunt(hunting dog), just a medium sized, family dog, normal activity. Just if you could tell why to 1 or no to another. I need to make a decision. THANKS!
I thought commercial/big brand dog foods would be better, go through more testing or certain requirements that maybe small companies didn’t have to, or maybe natural/organic guidelines didn’t have to go by. So i thought commercial healthier–i guess my thinking is wrong or was at least

The local feed store has a a brand of dog food called Exclusive. I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (male, 4 years old). The bag says it helps keep their skin and coat healthy and helps with their joints. My CKCS has allergy biting when we feed him "the cheap stuff". Just wondering if this will be a good choice for my Cav.
